Ocean Sand Pump
As the sun peeks through the rainbow of the expelling pump, the magical moment is reflected in the slick, wet sand on the beach. The sea mist billows across the ocean like low-lying clouds, a beautiful morning on the Gold Coast.
The purpose of Sand Pumping is to restore and maintain the natural coastal sand drift to the southern Gold Coast beaches; and to establish and maintain a safe, navigable entrance to the Tweed River. Reconnecting the natural flow of sand ensures that the southern Gold Coast’s beaches, roads and buildings are protected from storm events. Maintaining the Tweed River entrance allows commercial fisherman and tourist operators to utilise the Tweed River.
