Sunset on the Mittens
West and East Mitten Buttes (also known collectively as The Mittens) are two distinctive geological features found within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in northeast Navajo County, Arizona.
When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. Rising 300m into the air The Mittens form a triangle with Merrick Butte and are formed from three different forms of rock layers. As the sun drops from the sky and the cool night air rushes over the arid desert both the hush and the view make for a spectacular experience to enjoy.
