The Meandering Creek
Native to the United States, cottonwood tree's preferred habitat in the wild include moist bottomland areas and around lakes and streams. A populus deltoides and commonly called eastern cottonwood they are a fast growing deciduous tree that obtains an additional 6-feet of growth yearly and reaches a mature height and width of 100 feet. Due to this habit of quick growth, the wood is soft and brittle, breaking easily in windy conditions.
Over hanging the twisting shallow stone riverbed with its fast flowing stream they look resplendent in their autumn show of golden bloom.
