Harvest Time
Harvest time on Milton Downs near Belata in northern New South Wales runs like a well oiled machine being one of the largest grain producers in Australian. This country is some of the richest, most productive soil in Australia and harvest time is the most labor intensive of all seasons on the land.
Working more than the daylight hours the reaping or cutting of the crop is done today in an air condition cabin out of the endless dust and guided by satellite navigation. Still the beauty of this gathering time has not lost out, with the suns rays barely clear of the horizon and the world turned golden orange in its glow both the crop and the dust make for a spectacular image.
