Bendemeer Hotel Puzzle – Historic New England Architecture by Jaime Dormer
Step back in time with Jaime Dormer’s exquisite portrayal of the historic Bendemeer Hotel, located in the scenic New England region of New South Wales.
This puzzle captures the charm and heritage of one of Australia’s notable country inns, a place steeped in history since the days when settlers, teamsters, and drovers traversed the rugged landscape of the 1830s.
The hotel, standing proudly on MacDonald's River, has been a cherished resting spot for travellers and locals alike, symbolising the resilience and community spirit of Bendemeer.
Originally home to five bustling inns during the 1860s, Bendemeer saw the likes of the Woolpack Hotel, Royal Oak Hotel, Steam Hotel, and Telegraph Hotel, each serving as waypoints for weary travellers. The present-day Bendemeer Hotel, with its charming verandas and classic façade, was built on the historic grounds of Morley’s Inn, an inn that once stood where the hotel’s clotheslines are positioned today.
Over the years, the hotel has transformed, yet retained its authentic character, with historic photographs lining its walls, showcasing moments from its vibrant past. It’s also home to Australia’s only hotel-attached bowling club, a unique feature that adds to its community significance.
Jaime Dormer’s photograph brings out every intricate detail of the Bendemeer Hotel’s architectural beauty, from the iron lacework to the timeless wooden structure, set against a brilliant blue sky. This puzzle is a journey into Australia’s past, inviting you to appreciate not only the building’s physical beauty but also the stories of those who have walked through its doors for over a century.
Dormer reflects,
“I aim to capture the spirit of places like Bendemeer, where history and community intertwine.”
This commitment is embodied in QPuzzles’ sustainable production. Crafted entirely from 100% recycled materials and printed with eco-friendly, vegetable-based inks, each puzzle is designed to provide an immersive experience that respects both the environment and the cultural heritage Dormer so eloquently captures.

Framing the Image
Frame Details:
The photograph is presented in an elegant, contemporary frame designed to elevate and preserve the artwork. It is encased in a prestige white Majorca moulding, complemented by clarity UV70 glass to ensure protection against light exposure. The use of double acid-free white matting, accented by a Dawsons hand-made dark oaka linen and a silver fillet, provides a refined contrast that enhances the photograph’s vivid colors and depth.
The image is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a museum-quality 100% cotton paper that brings out the photograph's rich tones and details. To protect and maintain the integrity of the print, three coatings of Hahnemühle protective surface spray have been meticulously applied in a crosshatch pattern.
