Robbins Island, situated on the north western tip of Tasmania is home to fourth generation cattle farmers from the Hammond family who have been breeding wagyu beef there since the early 1990’s. During their iconic seasonal musters stockmen walk and swim hundreds of head of cattle through saltwater channels about 1 and 1/2 km across, at low tide to move them peacefully between grazing areas.  With a 3m rise and fall in the tide knowledge, preparation and timing are everything for a successful crossing.

As an invited guest to capture this unique and amazing event was a once in a life time opportunity I'll not soon forget. This panograph was shot from a helicopter and shows in exquisite detail the cold wet journey the cattle make crossing the Sound to greener pastures.
