Step into the serene beauty of Kyoto with The Golden Pavilion Reflection, a stunning panoramic photograph by esteemed photographer Jaime Dormer. This breathtaking image captures the iconic Kinkaku-ji, or “Golden Pavilion,” in all its splendour, rising above the tranquil waters of its reflecting pond.

Set amidst a backdrop of lush trees and vibrant seasonal colours, the pavilion’s golden surface gleams in harmony with the natural beauty surrounding it. The crystal-clear reflection in the still water adds a sense of calm symmetry, creating a scene that is as peaceful as it is awe-inspiring.

Reflecting on the history and essence of this iconic site, Dormer shares:

“Rising above its reflecting pond like an apparition, Kinkaku-ji is one of Japan’s most celebrated landmarks. Originally built as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1397, it later became a Zen temple and a symbol of enlightenment. Its golden façade, surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens, radiates an unmatched serenity.

Standing here, I felt the weight of history and the tranquillity of Zen merge into one. Capturing its reflection in the still waters was a moment of pure mindfulness.
