Introducing the Busselton Jetty East: Tranquil Dawn framed photographic print by Jaime Dormer—a refined and exclusive piece within Dormer’s exhibition collection that captures the iconic stretch of Busselton Jetty in a serene, early morning light.
This one-of-a-kind print highlights the historical significance and quiet beauty of this celebrated Western Australian landmark.
The Busselton Jetty extends nearly two kilometres into the calm waters of the Indian Ocean, making it the longest timber jetty in the world. Constructed and expanded between 1853 and 1960, it was essential for transporting timber from the shallow waters of Geographe Bay to waiting ships offshore. The jetty’s enduring presence is a testament to the maritime history of the region and the community’s dedication to its preservation.
Dormer’s photograph captures the view eastwards, where the first hints of dawn light gently illuminate the jetty’s full length. The tranquil waters mirror the soft, early morning hues of the sky, while the jetty lights create a delicate pathway extending to the distant horizon.
Dormer shares his approach:
“Wanting to capture this historical jetty and magnificent scene to its fullest potential, I arrived very early to photograph in the predawn light, predicting the beach would be blissfully deserted and the lights still burning along the full length of the pier. This eastern view demonstrates just how far the old timbers stretch out into the ocean waters, looking close you can see right to the very end.”
The image reflects Dormer’s commitment to capturing a moment that reveals both the scale and history of this revered structure.

The image is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm, a museum-quality 100% cotton paper that brings out the photograph's rich tones and details. To protect and maintain the integrity of the print, three coatings of Hahnemühle protective surface spray have been meticulously applied in a crosshatch pattern.
