In November of 2012 Northern Australia was in prime position to witness the rare event of a solar eclipse which achieved totality about an hour after sunrise leaving us in darkness for around four minutes. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is larger than the Sun's when it passes in front of the Sun blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness. Totality occurs in a narrow path across the Earth's surface, with the partial solar eclipse visible over a surrounding region thousands of kilometers wide.

I captured this image from The Spit on the Gold Coast in South East Queensland and as I was setting up noticed this lone fishing trawler making it's way back to harbor in the morning light after a nights work.  I positioned myself to capture it in the stream of light being thrown by the Eclipse and was immediately taken in by the solitude of the returning vessel alone on the dark waters for those few precious moments.
