The Tower Bridge of London
Tower Bridge was officially opened on 30 June 1894 by the Prince and Princess of Wales (the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) and 2019 marks its 125th anniversary.
A movable bridge of the double-leaf bascule (drawbridge) type it spans the river Thames between the Greater London boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Southwark. It is a distinct landmark which aesthetically complements its neighbour the Tower of London.
