The Elm
At the foot of the mighty trunk we stand watching the snaking roots edge out through the mulchy forest floor. Like rivers of stretching wood they weave and twist there way forward before delving deeper into the rich soil fertilized from a million fallen blessing from the canopy above.
In complete shelter we stand, cool here under the umbrella of life above, hidden from the tropical Queensland heat, completely shaded from the oppressive sun. The spongy mulch squishes and crunches beneath our feet as we enjoy the protection of this magnificent Elm.
