This beautiful staircase appears unsupported, the detailed metal work and artful curves show the talent of the craftsman and the imagination of the architect. The curve draws the eye upwards, suggesting progression and ascension, but the light reflects outwards, suggesting connectivity and community.

The spiral staircase from St Barbara's church in Kutna Hora is known for its beautiful conical form. Construction of the church began in 1388, but was not finished until some 500+ years later, in 1905. St Barbara is the Patron Saint of Miner's and the staircase reflects the hope of the divine alighting from above to assist those deep in the mines. The rails are made from silver, and the construction of the church was funded primarily through the town's silver mines.
