Spiral Stairs I
As the light beams through the window on the rising staircase, the room glows every shade of golden yellow. What could possibly await to delight you as you reach the top?
The spiral staircase from St Barbara's church in Kutna Hora is known for its beautiful spiralling curves. Construction of the church began in 1388, but was not finished until some 500+ years later, in 1905. St Barbara is the Patron Saint of Miner's and the staircase reflects the hope of the divine alighting from above to assist those deep in the mines. The balustrade is made from silver, and the construction of the church was funded primarily through the town's silver mines.
