Neuschwanstein Castle II
The english translation of New Swanstone Castle is a nineteenth-century Romanesque palace on a rugged hill near Fussen in Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II who personally paid for the palace by means of extensive borrowing, rather than use Bavarian public funds.
Since Ludwigs death in 1886 more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer. The palace has appeared prominently in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape and was the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Having wanted to visit the castle since my childhood when my mother bought me a jigsaw of the magnificent structure it was certainly a fairy tale come true to capture it. Looking resplendent in its autumn surrounds the castle really engages a magical and mythical presence on its rocky forest perch.
