Monument Valley Overlook II
One of the most majestic and photographed places on earth Monument Valley is part of the Colorado Plateau and located on the Utah-Arizona border. It is not officially a National Park since it sits within the Navajo Nation Reservation and can be accessed via a valley floor driving loop that covers 17km of red sandstone desert.
Although this area is commonly known as Monument Valley Park, the Navajo name is actually Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, which roughly translates to the valley of rocks. Monument Valley Park forms just a little piece of the semi-autonomous Navajo Nation, which is the largest Native American territory in the United States. The Navajo Nation has its own governance and judicial system that operates with its own President.
