Merced River Reflections

1704100070

It is early, but winter reluctantly gives way to spring. Swift and smoothly, with unmistakably strong currents the river flows on, the delicate touch of the artist giving an air of deceptive calmness.  The gaunt winter trees stand as guides to meander at the waters edge, life ever changing carries on, giving over to the promise of lush times that lay ahead.

The cleft provides a cradle to the cascade, flowing rapidly in a burst of whiteness through the mountain and plunging carelessly down into the depths below. The reflection of the water gives a picture of two mammoths, lost deeply in thought with just a little distance between them. With almost imperceptible editing, fullness is added to the image, taking the breath away, the picture captures the contrast between the lit and vibrant mountain side and the seemingly dark and peaceful waterside.
