Offering a vista of the lush green countryside, Lion's Mound is a large conical artificial hill ordered by Dutch King William I to commemorate the battle of Waterloo where a musket ball hit the shoulder of the Prince of Orange knocking him from his horse in 1815.  A large stone lion sits at its crest on a plinth overlooking the ancient site as a symbol of courage.

Under the brilliant blue sky dotted with white fluffy clouds the sun shines down upon the mound in heavenly blessing.  The flat fertile land stretches out in calm quiet reflection adding to the sense of history in this place.  A serene setting that allows both reflection of times of war and thankfulness for the peace so bravely won.
