Grass on the Ledge
The wind carried the seed to the small ledge on the steep wall of Rattlesnake Canyon. The rare rainfall and morning dew drops provided vital water. The canyon wall itself rich in minerals were nutrient enough.
But the will to survive in the environment it found itself, to put its provisions, however meagre, to best use; the courage to hold on when the whistling winds whipped past; to recover when a passing bird plucked a few leaves or stones fell from ledges above? Only the plant itself believed it was even possible.
