When the homestead law had been passed there was a gentleman named Anderson who made his way up Lolo Creek in Montana to find himsel a place to settle in 1898.  The law required that within three years you must improve your pasture to keep it and although the land was not as rich and fertile as other areas Anderson built his Gulch Barn and out-houses to home his family and livestock.

Anderson chose this location to settle because of the beautiful view of Lolo Peak which you can see here in the background.
