Sophie Charlotte, the first Queen consort in Prussia, was not only an accomplished musician and opera singer but often strolled through the grounds here at Charlottenberg Palace in Berlin. When she died at just 36 years old the palace and the area around was named Charlottenburg after her. Today the popular landmark is the largest and most magnificent palace in the capital of Germany.

The park and grounds were originally designed by French landscape architect Siméon Godeau in the magnificent baroque style popular all over Europe at the time. However you can now enjoy the re-imagined parkland in their now more formal English style and inside the Palace visit rooms like the staterooms and the rococo ballroom known as the Goldene Galerie (Golden Gallery).
