The Tweed River is the principal river of the North Coast district of New South Wales, Australia and home to the city of Tweed Heads on the NSW and QLD border. Visited by early English explorer Oxley who sheltered nearby in a storm, he named the river after the Tweed River which separates northern England from Scotland.

The Tweed River is a popular shore diving location at the southern end of the Gold Coast. It is home to a wide variety of marine life, including rock cods, moray eels, octopus, cuttlefish, stripeys, globefish, lionfish, crabs, shrimps and also nudibranchs. The Tweed River is also a spot where divers can see muck critters, such as stonefish, pineapplefish, scorpionfish, ghost pipefish and even frogfish.
