Although the great and iconic Roman Colosseum has not been used for its traditional purpose since 404 BC the roars and cheers of 65,000 spectators lingers in its corridors. The Colosseum is predominately known for its battle with gladiators and wild animals but it was also used for re-enactments of famous battles, dramas based on classical Mythology and executions. During the reign of Emperor Honorius the games of the Colosseum were abolished and the grounds were used for housing, workshops and quarters for a religious order.

Even though the Colosseum was substantially damaged over time due to earthquakes and stone robbers it is still an iconic symbol of Imperial Rome and is listed as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
